TO play Jazz you need to HEAR!!!!!!!! what you are going to be played, you need to know what a 5th interval sounds like, you need to basically hear everything, know what notesfit in the chord the RYTHYM section is playing. To Improv you need to listen to your rythym section and follow the general idea they are doing, but HEARING is by far the most important thing you can do!
