Right now I'm using a Yamaha 321, but I auditioned for District Band on a 641 because the 321 was being worked on. My gripe is that between these two, and every single 6441 used at District Band, they were all sharp. Literally every tuning slide had to be pulled at least 4 inches. On the 321, the valves are a little slow, and make the loudest noise you've ever heard. On the 641 the valves were slow. And I mean SLOW. Every 641 I've tried has had slow valves. Also on the 641 it had little rings that I guess were to put a strap on. The problem was that the way you have to hold it, the rings catch on your clothes and it gets a little a awkward when you shift position. If it were my choice I'd definitely use something else, but my band director buys the tubas, so I guess i'm stuck for now.
