What is possible will be determined by the person who chooses to push the envelop. If you can master the low register (low F) through the high register (high F above middle C), you will have acheived a 3 octave range, which will just about cover everything you will ever need. It is possible to play an octave further in both directions (giving claim to a 5 octave range), but this will not by itself make one a better player (I've heard players claim to play lower than the double pedal F, but I can easily emulate their sound by poping the mouthpeice with my hand!) Squeeling high notes or pooping low notes does not easily translate into music. The aforementioned 3 octave range, when mastered, will go a long way.
