I have an old 20K that had the misfortune of residing in a high school for almost forty years, so it is rather beaten up but plays well. On the 20K sousaphone I have found that a Helleburg works best for the type of playing I do with it (American Legion Band, German Band, Alumni Band, etc.), and for me it does give a darker tone than Bach mouthpieces. On my regular horn, a Kalison, I use a Helleburg II, which gives a nice dark sound. I would suggest that you try the Helleburg to see how it works for you, as the cup and rim are different than those found on Bach mouthpieces. If you like the Helleburg, you should be able to get from the Woodwind and Brasswinf for about $50.
