The one wooden mouthpiece I had the opportunity to try out was of poor design, so I didn't find it a very good product. On the other hand, I think it is a good novelty concept. The mp I played on had a grenadilla cup and rim, and a brass shank. This mp a warm, dark tone and was farely resonant. I can only describe to tone color as unique. I found that I couldn't get a decent center to the tone, nor any sense of projection. It also limited the overal volume. These last characteristics you will find with any wood mp, no matter the design. If you play a lot of jazz, you may want to give one of these a spin and see if you like it. If you doing orch playing, don't go anywhere near one of these things. I know this is a limited opinion, but I hope it helps.
