Just play down there a lot!

Get Phil Snedecor's "Low Etudes for Tuba" book and also a Rochut etudes book for trombone (transcriptions of vocalises by Bordogni). Play the Rochut book down 2 octaves. This is what Gene Pokorny did to get his low register, from what I understand. Tommy Johnson has all his students do this. Try hard to make music in that register - play dynamics and try to make the phrases nice and smooth. Also, at least once a day play the Rochut etude as loud as possible without losing time. After doing this every day for a couple weeks the sick feeling/ pain in your stomach and the light-headed/ disoriented/ "oh crap I'm gonna pass out and drop my horn" feeling will go away and things will really start to work well.
