It's very hard to play a gig on a cutaway mouthpiece in an emergency!
(Which is why my buzzing-in-the-car mouthpiece is NOT a cutaway).
I think the cutaway thing is a bit of a gimmick (IMHHHHHHO), and buzzing on a complete mouthpiece is just fine... and from my experience, better for being able to pay careful attention to the pitch and sound of the buzz.
