If you REALLY want that stuff (I know this sounds smart---, but really) "show me the money"...

Do you REALLY mean 24K GOLD PLATED? or raw brass (to buff and lacquer)?

If you want those soldered-on parts to be 24K gold plated, that will cost you $$$$ extra, and likely you or your friend will make a sorry mess of them trying to solder them to the instrument without getting any solder on the gold plating.

If you're wanting to put raw brass parts in place of your existing parts and buff them shiny brass and lacquer them, just BUFF THE SILVER OFF of your existing parts.

Summary: (trying to be a friend to you) You have a bad plan. If you REALLY want gold plating "trim", limit your project to:

- the slides
- the caps
- the fingerbuttons
- the bell screws
- the gooseneck and bits
- the mouthpiece

and

- the bell interior (THIS is do-able for an affordable price, except the buffing costs $$$, too.)

Those things can all be 24K gold plated without any unbelievable soldering luck, because no soldering is involved.

It will be dern expensive to do the above (and just gold plate your EXISTING parts), but forget the protective ribs, bell collars, etc.

Again, friendly advice from

Joe Sellmansberger
