Some of my favorite pieces that I played during high school are:
Festive Overture--Shostakovich
Jupiter, Mars from The Planets--Holst
Esprit de Corps--Robert Jager I think
Blue Shades--Frank Tichelli
Most if not all of these are probably too tough for the combination of a high school conductor and a high school ensemble, unless both are really good. Another do-able piece, though not my favorite, is Grainger's Children's March. Good luck with this persuit!
