Don't go to college for tuba and expect a professional career. Don't go to college for anything and expect a professional career playing the tuba. You might have the talent, but you're much too willing to show your a## to people who only seek to answer a youthful question in the best manner that they know how. With your attitude, you will not last in a competitive studio. Think about it: does a teacher want to spend time trying to teach some jacka## who already knows it all, or someone with a modicum of humility who is willing to listen to guidance? We may not all be pros here, but you can be damn sure that many of us have been around the block a few times. Most of us have taught a student at some point with a crummy attitude like yours. Guess what? My schedule starts getting choked with things like dog grooming appointments, trips to the grocery store, and Monday Night Football. I give you a year at the outside before either the teacher or the rest of the studio runs you off by making life totally unbearable.

Most of the advice given here is from experience that was hard-won. It is given as a favor so that you might not have to experience what some of us have. When you pi## all over that, with anybody, you will be written off as a ingrateful lout.
