I got a friend of mine who is a very good player, to play this range on my 46. (I can hardly even get these notes to sound.) He got a strong C to come out, but the tuba was "fighting" him, and the note made funny burbling sounds even though it was loud. I have heard one person play this tuba and get these notes to sound normal, but he was an F tuba specialist. So it's the horn, but some can master it anyway.
