I think that Rick hit the nail on the head, especially at the end of his post. A professional quality used horn from a reputable dealer will give you much more bang for the buck in your price range. In addition to the shops he mentioned check the other ones listed in the "shops" section of this site. Also, I noticed that Wichita Band Instruments www.wichitaband.com has a used Besson 968, in silver plate, for $2150 listed on their site. Good Luck.
