To all the players/owners of 983 & 993 model Besson tubas.

After much testing, problem solving and frustration, myself and an experienced repair person can't work out why the 4th valve on my 983 makes a clicking sound. Rest assured, we tried every possible comination and valve and part swap imaginable. We even used different springs. Even the valves and casings were measured. No logical conclusion could be found.

It happens when the valve is pressed down. All other valves don't have this problem. Is it an inherant acoustical problem of this horn? The 4th valve only has 4 pipes going into it and less bracing, while the others have 8 pipes and more bracing.

Please email me personally using phart(AT)pullmyfinger.com.au

Thanks for your help

Regards
