Jay, I think we actually agree, but I probably didn't word my other post in such a way.

Taken to an extreme, imagine the notion of paying a crackhead to smoke more crack. Yes, I know, Brahms 2nd doesn't fry one's brain (well, not as badly, anyway), but to the public it seems logical to pay someone more for something they'd rather not do, like toss garbage, than for something someone does for fun -- and their fiddle-playing uncle does for free anyway.

I don't like it either, but that's the impression I've gotten. It doesn't explain the astronomical salaries for professional athletes, though.
