One way I was able to think tuba in treble cleff in the jazz arena was to use the treble cleff C real book in all of my gigs. This is also the almost universal standard, as I am sure you are well aware.

BTW, one of the better trumpet players in the East Arkansas/Memphis area is a lawyer from Jonesboro, Arkansas. He is a good solo/second or third player.
