I may not agree with all of Mike's comments, but I think his first hand opinion of the situation is an interesting one. Anyway, you've misunderstood Mike's point. HE is the one who said everthing that you did, not Dave. He said that he agrees with Dave that they'd choose the most musical applicant, IF AND ONLY IF all the other variables (intonation, time, sound, right notes, etc.) remain constant. Read AND COMPREHEND, before you comment!
Also, I think he was using "language" as an analogy to music, and not meaning the ENGLISH language itself. That begin said, the word "intervallic" is in MY music dictionary...yours?
