Andy-

I can only imagine how great it must have been to play on a York. I myself recently purchased a Perantucci 20 (PT-20ps -"ps" for pistons and silver) which is shapped and modeled quite similarly to the old Jacobs York. It is a 4/4 horn but can produce a 5/4 sound. I find it usefull in both chamber ensembles and orchestra. It most definitly has a really free-blowing nature, espcially in the lower end. That isn't to say the high end isn't great as well. Also, it has oversized pistons and a "straight-in", York style leadpipe that help its open nature. My suggestion would be to try out PT's or if you can afford it Hirshbrunner PT-2, PT-20, or PT-21. For the most part, any high-end horn that you buy will help you to atain the great tone quality and desired sound.
