I have decided to sell my old Besson five valve euphonium because I am not playing much euphonium anymore and need the money for a vacation this summer. It is a French Besson marked Prototype, serial number 57575. It has really neat bell engravings. The serial number dates it from 1896. I played it last year in the Miami University Symphony Band, so I know it can cut it in a real group. Intonation is rather difficult, but managable with a strong lip. The sound is quite colorful and projects incredibly well. This horn is in great shape for being over one hundred years old, but does have its fair share of dents and dings. Valves are two on the side and three on the top. The fifth valve is one half step. I would like to get about $850 for this horn, but am willing to consider offers. A European shank Schilke 51D mouthpiece is included. Feel free to email for any other information.

thank you,
T. J. Ricer
