I was at a jazz band gig (i am a terrible lead trombone player, and wish i could just be out of highschool jazz now and get more sleep) and as we were warming up for our critiquing in front of an audience I accidentally brought the horn up and it broke my top lip against my teeth. I didnt realize the problem at first and as I began playing noticed an unusually large amount of what I considered to be spit in the mouthpiece, turns out I was bleeding profusely into my valve 'bone. Being a tuba player, and not wanting to mess around I grabbed my the alternate mouthpiece from my case and commenced to cover it in blood. 10 mins in the bathroom and 10 paper towels later, I played like crap. I must have cracked 15-20 notes on 3 charts. Between every song I had to turn around and make sure no more book was coming out.
That was a bad day.
