I built such a rig for a very good bassoonist friend who wanted to stand up and play the Mozart with the Symphony here. It consisted of expensive strap-supporting parts from the bassoon's manufacturer (that they had already acquired), an old-fashioned field drum padded leg rest (bent out to fit against the lower abdomen) and some junk hardware from one of my infamous "buckets 'o' stuff".

I think the "field drum leg rest" part of the rig is an idea that you might borrow and "run" with, as it were.
