I used a chamois on my laquer Rudy Meinl. I doubled it over and put a sheet of plastic between the layers to keep my skin oils from eventually soaking through. I'm now using clear plastic adhesive film on my Hirsbrunner, something like a sheet of clear shipping tape. I got mine from the laminating department of a large photo lab. I've had it on my horn for years with no ill effects.
