I've just procured another tuba. This one is an old Martin, but not one of the big 6/4 jobs. It's a 4/4, (maybe a tad smaller) BBb and is essentially a mini version of the larger model. Mine is a side-action three-valver with a 20" detachable recording bell. Serial # dates it to about 1925. It's small, but weighs a TON!, (they put some pretty thick metal on horns back then). I used it on a dixie job last night and it was a joy; big enough to give a nice bass and small enough to solo on. I've never seen another one of these and wondered if anyone else out there had played one. Sorry, can't post a picture yet.
