Hiram,

I'm in my second year here at UNT, and have had the privilege of studying with Dr. Bowman since I was a freshman. The Euphonium studio here is very large, and as a result, Dr. Bowman has to give priority to those incoming players who are performance majors. If you are going to be an education major, then you can bet your money that you'll be studying with his TF. Brian Meixner is the TF this year, and he is a fantastic player, teacher, and conductor.

If you think you need that education major, then double major on performance. It is really important that you have that.

Another point that others have brought up is the fact that if you want to be a great player, surround yourself with greatness. There's no better place for that than UNT, and on another level, I can say truthfully that there isn't a better group of people. The studio is very close. We have a lot of fun!

If you have any more questions, drop me an email, and I'd be happy to give you some input!

Derek
