I have not used a dent eraser, however I have had moderate success using rare earth magnet. I don't have any dent balls so I use a large socket. I have had some problems with the sharp edges of the socket putting crease marks so I now put it in a sock, however the dent doesn't remove as well. I used it on the back tube of a Besson BBb that was badly damaged. It was still rippled when I was done but clearly a whole lot better then when I started. With proper dent balls (or probably even better, dent barrels) a person could probably have good success with a rare earth magnet. I don't know if I'd use it on mint condition horns without quite a bit of practice first.
