I purchased a Monette 94 a couple of years ago. All of the things they say about it worked, such as not exaggerating the lip position, etc. I used the things I learned from the Monette on the progression of mouthpieces I acquired after it. And these mouthpieces seemed to work better for me than the Monette, in terms of tone, volume and playing in tune. I use several tubas (all BBb) in a variety of situations and lately I have settled down to three mouthpieces that seem to work for me. They are the Roger Bobo Symphonic, the Mike Finn MF-3 and the PT-88 +. All of these mouthpieces seem to work (at least for me) like the Monette 94 did, but they seem to refine the things I am looking for in individual groups, individual musical numbers and the particular tuba I am using at the moment. I hope that makes sense. It's all about a one's individual preferences and playing ability.
