I appreciate your question--for me, the hall I play in with our local symph orch. focuses many of the spot-lights on the paneling directly behind the orchestra, and my position at back right tends to put off a VERY significant arc-ing bell-shine across the entire vertical breadth of the stage wall-enough that a lot of folks mention it in their after-concert remarks...enough so that i really DO think about when to put the horn down. I find that instead of tilting the bell through 90 degrees from up to sideways, I actually lower the horn straight down, cello-player-like, so that it comes to rest on shoe-tops. (otherwise, klanggggg)
