I usually limit my activities on TubeNet to lurking, but I feel compelled to share the recent good experience I had with Tony Clements at the Low Brass Werks.
Tony was very helpful with some information regarding Miraphone 186s when I was in the decision process. I flew out to San Jose and Tony was very accommodating to me and my wife while I played several of his tubas over the course of about 2 and a half hours. It was definitely a laid back no pressure atmosphere - he would appear when I wanted to ask a question, but otherwise he let me do my thing.
I eneded up buying a 186-5U. The price was fair and the service was great. I can't say the same about other experiences I've had. I would recommend the Low Brass Werks to anyone who has an interest in the horns Tony has there, especially those of us who reside in the Western U.s., where there are few big music stores.
