I responded to a link a couple days ago with the exact same question. Is asking for research sources a banned topic?

Here's the info for a 2nd time...

Clifford Bevan's "The Tuba Family" has alot of information on predecessors to the euphonium and tuba. The book contains descriptions, as well as the function of the instrument in ensembles and some well-known performers and makers of the instrument. Important historical names include Wieprecht, Distin, Konzertmeister Sommer, Blaikley, etc. Some important euphonium virtuosi include: Simone Mantia, Leonard Falcone, Brian Bowman, The Childs Brothers, Steven Mead, Rich Matteson, etc. (There are a lot more virtousi, but this is an influential core) If all else fails, look into the ITEA journal (formerly known as the TUBA journal). Hope this helps.

Ash
