what constitutes an F tuba mouthpiece?

I'm kinda wondering what are the specific attributes that set an F tuba mouthpiece apart from a C or Bb tuba mouthpiece?

The reason I ask is that usually every year I like to go to the Midwest Band Clinic and play tubas. Before I bought my F and my PS F3 from Dillon, I used to walk around and play F tubas with my Miraphone C4, which worked pretty well. Whenever I would play, some jerk (who what probably some kinda salesman) usually comes up to make me feel like an idiot because I'm "not playing on a 'real' F tuba mouthpiece" (typically in a very condescending tone). Any idea why someone would feel that's necessary to do?

Just kinda wondering what people know/ think about it.
