I'm not sure which King tuba you own. Gotta say that I put a longer leadpipe on my 4/4 1241 so I could rest the horn on the chair instead of my lap. At the same time I reduced the bell size from 22" to 19 ". It all worked out VERY well, but I was clearly LUCKY. I had some idea of what I was trying to do, because I had the old version of the 2341 as a model to go on, but I was prepared to go back to square one if it didn't work out. If your horn played well before you made the changes and now doesn't, you should consider going back to your starting point. I'm a firm believer in "center lining" which in a sense means to mark your position before you start to move stuff around, so if it doesn't work out, you a have reference point to go back to. IMHO.
