I was the tubist who chided Dale about gouging, but that was only because I had gotten mine for 500 bucks instead of $3000. I don't know if mine was the same instrument as Dale's, but it was so cheap mainly because it was bought as one of four or five Zeiss tubas from a school by Nate Griffith, who then refurbished them and sold them at barely over his cost.

Given the choice between my friend's S-186 and my Zeiss (Master Modelle with "Made In Czechoslovakia" on the bell), I'll still go with the Zeiss. So, in that sense, it's definitely worth $2-3K.

Still keeping it, and I don't see it going for sale!
