When I was in high school I had dreams of becoming a professional tuba player. One of my friends brought some real perspective to that dream when he suggested that rather than becoming a professional tuba player, I should run for the US Senate. I told him it was very unlikely that a young man from a small town in rural Utah could get elected to the US Senate. He then replied that there were more jobs in the US Senate than there were real paying jobs for professional tuba players. I took his advise to heart and became a CPA. It was the best transfer of skills. Valve pushing to running a 10 key adding machine.
