If you want to be a REALLY funny tuba player, just try to start taking yourself seriously. ;^/ All seriousness aside, I used to work seven nights a week with a polka band (over 20 years ago) and I used a BBb sousa. When there was enough high octane beer in my veins, I was known to have twirled the sousa like a baton, and to have danced with it ala Estaire-Rodgers.
Most will probably advise you to just learn both sets of fingerings, as they have done. You will find out how easy this is to do, once you give it a shot.
