That's really true, I worry all the time about having to buy new valves because of the scooping procedure done on them. Even with the lighter mass of the valve, I had the springs tightened considerably. If you ask anyone who has played my tubas, they'll tell you that the springs are almost rediculously tight. I've gotten used to it so I don't mind but the truth is that my valves are fast and tight springs are a small price to pay. The repair technician who works on my tubas is always joking with me about how someone is going to get hurt when these springs blow! Now, if I could only find the Thumb-Wrestling Championships...
