I also highly agree with this advice. The only thing I can add is let yourself sound bad for a while. If you try and make a new habit from scratch with the same standards you are used to using, you run the risk of getting very disappointed. If you allow yourself some bad sounds, you will improve much quicker. Make each attempt at a given slur sound better than the one you just played. We practice to get better, so it's OK to sound bad in the practice room. Ya gotta start somewhere.
