Linkage replacement

I would appreciate your thoughts and comments on retro-fitting the older style "S" rotary valves linkages with the newer Unibal system.

I have an East-German horn ( Sonora brand, also known as Bach and Schneider, I believe ) built in the early 70's, with the "s" shaped linkage and external springs. The horn is in very good shape overall, and being a recreational player, it is as much horn as I will need in the forseable future. But, I am intrigued by what little I have read about the Unibal linkages. I have checked the archives and there are very few mentions there.

Would a replacement of the existing linkage be worth the effort in terms of performance, noise reduction and possible resale value of the horn? Any thoughts as to the complexity and cost of the work required? Should the springs be relaced at the same time, or is this part of the overall installation?

Thanks for your input.
