You won't believe this but a guy named Scott Rimm-Hewitt attempting to thru-hike the entire Appalachian Train from North to South is carrying his 30 pound tuba with him so he can practice and scare away the bears. He has a web site with pictures that is tracking his progress.
Check it out and give support to this tubist. He knows his priorities!
