Hey Hellbane,

For my money, ya can't beat the good ol' Bach 7 for Sousaphone. I don't know exactally how it compares to the Monette or the Sheridan mpc's, but the Bach 7 has worked well for me and others I know on Sousas from the current small bore King, to the mighty Conn 20K with equal success.

I played in the Army Bands for 5-1/2 years on several mpc's. I always came back to the Bach 7 for sousaphone. It has a pretty wide inner-rim diameter- about that of a Conn-Helleberg, Fair amount of bite on inner rim, and bowl cup to give volume w/out being too deep. Plays pretty loud before 'backing up' on you, but won't make you work too hard like a mega deep cup might.

Just my 2 cents. Give it a try. Most military bands have one laying around somewhere.
