Dear Pete:
It takes immense dedication, practice, perseverance, and talent. I know quite a few great players and many times, they have had to resort to other avenues in the music industry such as working in a music store, teaching, working for a manufacturer, or in some specialty like brass repair while gigging part-time to survive. Unfortunately, many of the best positions get filled by a small minority. But breaks can come, if you work very hard and can deal with rejection and network for yourself. It is not my intent or desire to discourage you, but the truth is that it can be a real challenge to make a living. But if you are like alot of serious musicians out there, you will do whatever it takes. Anyone that says there is an easy road to "success" are not telling the truth. Aim high and keep going!
