(Another) Mystery Horn

I've just come into possession of a rather strange beast and was hoping that one or more of the BBS listers might be able to provide some background on it.

It's a B. Cazzani/A. Rampone CC tuba made in Milan. 4 rotary valves, with clockspring-type mechanics. Elaborate engraving on the keys and valve capscrews. 22.5" bell, 0.900" (gasp!) bore, stands a squat 35" tall. Very strange looking for a European rotary-valve tuba--taper from the valve cluster to the bell is pretty gradual, then the bell makes a really wide flare. Screw threads are all US/British system, not metric.

Plays pretty much in tune, though the C above the staff is fairly flat. The sound isn't the big booming sound of a big American style horn--more like a cimbasso on steriods (This baby is REALLY loud). Probably great for Verdi.

Can anyone estimate a date or provide any other information?
