Yes you could. Those Wenger things are pretty effective, convenient, prefab, and consistent.
And expensive.
My ex-employer did a tuning/voicing room for a steel drum manufacturer made of industrial noise containment enclosure parts that works as well as Wenger for a lot less. The owner was thrilled with the results - he could fine-tune his pans while ten feet away another guy was pounding out the next one.
If you have the time, skills, and know-how, you can DIY for a reasonable fraction of the cost. You better OWN the house first, and plan to keep it for a while to make the investment worthwhile. An effective DIY enclosure will still cost much more to build than a "big closet"
