WD40 is, essentially, kerosene, to which something has been added to make it smell horrible, at least to my nose. As such, it would behave a bit like stinky valve oil, and should not be terribly harmful to the rotors inside the casings. Sprayed on the bearing, however, and it would drive out the heavier bearing oil, which could lead to faster bearing wear.
