I use a st. pete every day, and think it is a nice tuba for the price. You can play really impressive loudness on it, without breaking of the sound, and the intonation is adequate. The material is very thin though, and the vanves as used in the US do not seem to be o.k. I had the valve section replaced in Germany, and mine are VERY good.
There is no reason to go for it in your case though. The yammerha is a fine tuba too, and the build quality and materials are much better.
