I use a diaphram vibrato. It is very natural. I use the same style vibrato as when I sing. It is very slight. I just use it a little to "warm up" the tone on longer notes. I also usually do not start my vibrato right away. I let the note sit still for a little bit before gradually vibrating. I have read a lot of negative observations about using diaphram vibrato and I guess it could cause trouble if you are not careful. However altering your oral cavity can be just as troublesome in my view. Any way you choose to do it, you must make sure bad habits do not come out of it and you must be able to control it so that you do not use it all the time. With vibrato I always use the axiom "less is more". I never had to "practice" vibrato it just came naturally to me, again I look at it just like singing. Perhaps this will open a can or worms here. Let's see what happens!
