I have been doing some looking in this topic myself, including playing the Besson 765, the VMI, and the Cerveny. My opinion is this:

The Besson played nice, very much like the 900 series, but a little lighter. I have heard that besson has had some qualty contro problems lately, and the valves might need some work

The VMI (schmidt) sounded very big and nice, but was prety sharp from high D to F about 35 to 40 cents sharp. I don't know how typical that is.

The Cerveny I we have alreadt dealt with. TubaEuph has beaten that horse to death.

THe other one you might think about is the King 4 -valve. The last one I played was not bad at all. It's about $1500

I assume you did not mention the Yamaha 321 because you think it's too small. I agree
