Absolutely! You would almost never play in an ensemble with a vibrato unless it were a true solo. Otherwise, you are vitually guaranteeing that you'll be out of tune with your colleagues. Contrary to string sound, wind sounds are much harder to tune when players use vibrato. I believe this is because you use vibrato on string instruments for different reasons than on wind instruments. For ensemble strings, the vibrato adds warmth and a cover to the sound, facilitating blending within the section. For ensemble wind instruments, you use the vibrato for warmth but more so for musicality in solos. I think this also has something to do with the fact that the typical string section has 10+ players where wind sections are one on a part. The use of vibrato on excerpts in an audition has been the topic of much debate over many years...
