While not the best BBb horns, the Bessons are still very good. If you're worried about the compensating sytem, don't be. Once you get used to something, it'll become normal.

TO help you out a bit, Besson make 2 BBb tubas (quality horns that is) One is model 993 (valve-front pistons) and model 994 (upright pistons)

I personally favour the 993 model, as it's design allows for better air passage through the instrument, compared to the 994.

I play on a 994 in my brass band here http://www.thefeds.org.au and it's quite a good instrument. When in New Zealand just over 2 years ago, I tried the 993 model beside my 994. The 993 had a slightly clearer sound and it was much easier to blow than the 994.
