Sound interesting for me.
I start building a tuba in januari, i based it on a Bb mirafone 306 H.
First i measured the whole tuba and take the parts of.
The tuba is nickel plated so i scratch that away.
I used the mean tube without the bell, tube behind the tuning slide and the mouth pipe.
Put a fifth valve on it chance the branch behind the tuning slide.
At the moment i am making a bell, old fashion way. A bit diffecult at the start but it works now.
I house full of tuba parts sound familliar to me.
the old bell (f tuba HB 4 valves 1 rotary), is standing next to me and it is really 0.65
also the old bell of the mirafoon 0,65. (4valve Bb(sorry not a 186 but a 306H))
I also controlled a sinfonia, also 0,7. (4valve Bb(Russian tuba i don't know anything of this type and brand))
The alex measured 0,6. (4 valves modifyed to 5valve c tuba 163)
Al the bells are:
ms 70 / 72, (may be that's making a diverens)
with a franzoischer-rand.
None of them is a special.
Al a measured are facts, but i am verry curious to know how there can be that defference.
Maybe you can tell me?
