I may understand somewhat where that saying came from. I've tried to take lessons from "natural" players....those who didn't have to figure anything out because they had a natural embouchure to start with. Others, like me, who started from the negative range in embouchure, have had to figure one hell of a lot out, and we (personal opinion) make better teachers than the natural players, who can't even describe what they do or how they do it. (Typical lesson: "Use more air! Just hear the tone you want and do it! ")
So I think this phrase was invented by the natural players as kind of a slam on the less natural players, who may end up playing as well but have to do more work to get there. They're jealous that we make better teachers.
