No great deal. I did that to the recoring machine when the Pittsburgh Symphony was recording the Rite of Spring. The microphone was placed over the bell without me knowing it. Remember that when you play very loud the loudness comes not from the fundamental but from the high harmonics. When Wagner wrote A three lines below the staff, do you think he wanted a bunch of out of tune stuff centered around middle c on the piano keyboard? If you play loud all the time you are making a grave mistake.
